Vertex Systems Engineering (Vertex) has been appointed to support AMCL with the delivery of Asset Management improvements within the Rio Tinto Iron Ore Rail Network in Western Australia.
Rio Tinto are one of the leading Iron ore producers in the world. In the Pilbara region of Western Australia Rio Tinto own an integrated portfolio of iron ore assets: a world-class, integrated network of 16 mines, four independent port terminals, a 1,700 kilometre rail network and related infrastructure.
As well as mining for Iron Ore, Rio Tinto have also deployed AutoHaul™ which is the world’s first fully Automated Heavy-Haul, long distance Rail Network. This impressive system allows for Trains to travel the Network Driverless in a safe and controlled manor, thus improving both safety and use of resource.
The Asset Management Strategy framework will consist of multi-disciplinary work packages that align with ISO standards 5000/5001 and include:
- Rolling Stock
- Track and Civils
- Track Machines
- Signalling, Systems & Comms
- Facilities
The scope of work will see Vertex work with AMCL to develop a Rail Asset Management System and Framework, inclusive of:-
- An Asset Management Policy document
- An Asset Management Principles and Objectives document
- A Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) document
- Multiple Asset Class Strategies
- Multiple Asset Management Plans
- An Asset Management Framework diagram and definition
- Communication and change management documentation
- Training to help our staff understand and use the AMS&F
